Our Story

Jody & Kelly met and worked together at a restaurant Kelly co-owned at the end of Jody’s culinary school internship. They both are well traveled and share a love of baking, kitchens and people. The idea of the market was born and they worked on the market idea behind the scenes for almost two years before finally making the decision to open the 20th street storefront.

Jody: A stay-at-home dad for 11 years, Jody always enjoyed cooking. His wife pushed him to do something for himself and he signed up for culinary school. He didn’t really plan to do anything with it, other than let his friends and family benefit from a bit of extra culinary knowledge and skill at dinner and parties. When he met Kelly, they started formulating plans for opening a market. Jody travels quite frequently with his family. He, his wife and their 3 kids travel to France yearly and he developed a passion for boulangerie, patisserie & vennoiserie. (Bread, pastries & laminated dough treats) He hopes to bring a bit of European culture to his small town of Jasper, Alabama.

Kelly: Owner of 5 Loaves Bakery—a successful hometown restaurant and bakery of 6 years. She worked in the legal field for 25 years and is loved by her kids and grandkids. She is excited to begin a new chapter in the industry by learning about and introducing everyone to the great products available for retail in the market. From olive oils to charcuterie, she is passionate about fine foods and can’t wait to educate Jasper all about it.
