Our Story
Meet Jody
Jody’s love for food has been shaped by years of learning, traveling, and cooking across cultures. What began as curiosity in his own kitchen grew into a formal culinary education and a deep respect for craftsmanship. From French boulangeries to family tables throughout Europe, he found inspiration in places where food is simple, intentional, and rooted in quality. That philosophy continues to guide everything he creates.
During his 11 years as a stay-at-home dad, Jody enrolled in culinary school at the encouragement of his wife, who urged him to pursue something just for himself. Though he never intended to start a business, his passion for cooking—and for sharing it—naturally grew into something more. Frequent trips to France with his wife and three children sparked a particular love for boulangerie, pâtisserie, and viennoiserie, and with it, the dream of bringing that tradition home to Jasper, Alabama.
As the owner of Main Street Market, Jody has created a space that reflects his journey—one where the community can discover thoughtfully sourced ingredients, beautifully crafted baked goods, and a hint of European influence. What began as a market has become a gathering place, and he is grateful to grow alongside the Jasper community each day.
That same dream continues to evolve with the opening of Apéro. Inspired by the European tradition of pausing at the end of the day to gather, share a meal, and linger at the table, Apéro was created as a place to slow down and savor. It represents the next chapter—a full dining experience rooted in seasonality, craftsmanship, and the belief that even in a small town, fine food can be warm, welcoming, and deeply memorable.
